Do you remember what it was like on the first day of school?  Dressing up in your new clothes…packing all of your new binders into your backpack…anxiously anticipating who you’ll share a class with?  I always loved the first day of school…but it always made me really nervous too.

Starting a new career [especially when it’s your own business] feels just like that.  Only a thousand times worse!

I can remember in those early days how anxious I constantly felt.  Having never been trained in photography and having never studied small business…I had nothing to fall back on except my own instincts.  And while I knew those instincts were enough…it still took some time for my confidence to catch up with the rest of me.

Holly and Jeff were a vital force in that process.  From day one…they believed.  They believed in my abilities…they believed in my vision…and they believed in me – as a person.  They have walked alongside me for nearly this entire adventure so far; starting with their engagement…then their wedding a year later…and now, in anticipation of their amazing baby boy.  Four years in business…three of them spent sharing in their lives behind my camera.

And because they believed…they helped me believe.  Their unfailing certainty in what we could do together helped me to see myself as more than an amateur in a field full of professionals.  They helped me to see myself as a creative…a storyteller…an artist.  They helped me to see myself as someone who could do it.

Holly and Jeff…thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing so many pivotal moments in your life with me.  All along, you thought that you were just hiring someone to take pictures…when really, you became a building block in what my business ended up becoming…which is so much more than just a photo.

I adore you both to pieces and can’t wait to hear the news of your little man’s arrival!  I might be a bit bias…but I think baby boys kind of rock!
