I’m a summer baby.  July, actually!  And if you calculate the number of school days off between June and September…my birthday falls almost right in the middle.

I despised this as a kid because I never got to have a party at school…I never got to have my birthday announced over the intercom…and even when my birthday did finally roll around, most of my friends were away on vacation somewhere or at camp.  For me, being a summer baby was so much worst than even being a Christmas baby.

So I changed it!

That’s right!  I woke up one morning in grade school and decided that I was no longer going to be a July baby.  I was tired of the neglect!  Instead, I opted for one month earlier; which still enabled me to honour my summer birthday while finally being able to get the recognition I felt my little self deserved!  In essence, it was the day I became a politician!!!

Sadly, the school didn’t buy my change of plans and to this day, I’ve never had my birthday announced over the intercom…but my mom planned a party a month early for me every year and that was apparently enough for me to feel like justice was served!

Jen and I got along magically from our very first email exchange.  The email that had me bribing her into changing her wedding date because I was already booked for the one she was inquiring about.  A new wedding date and the promise of chocolate later…we were instant friends!  We emailed often just to check in on each other’s day or to laugh about something on Facebook…we felt like sisters separated at birth!

And then it happened…just a few short weeks before their engagement session and when we would finally meet for the very first time; that’s when I got the message that it confirmed it all…

“OMG…I just realized something…you and I have the same birthday!!!”

Well then, that was that…it was official…we were meant for each other!!!

And when their engagement session finally rolled around, it didn’t disappoint one bit!  We laughed [at all the same things]…we vented [about all the same annoyances]…and poor Archie contemplated whether or not he could handle having two of us in the world [nonetheless at his wedding!!]!!

It was awesome and I can hardly wait for their amazing day in October!

Most importantly though, by the end of the night…I’ve never loved my birthday quite as much!!!  Because really, why would I ever want to change it when I can share it with someone as amazing as Jen!
