HOLLY & JEFF: WEDDING

I read not too long ago that when you start to near the end of your wedding season, it’s absolutely imperative that you only work with clients that you adore. By this time, stamina can be hard to come by…creativity can be hard to come by…inspiration can be hard to come by. But clients – really great clients – are the single remedy to dissolve any such ailments. Great clients bring out the best in you and the love that you have for the work that you do. Great clients are as imperative as having the right equipment or the right lighting. Great clients are everything.
Holly and Jeff’s wedding was my very last local wedding of the season. And in true Ottawa fashion…the temperature showed its genuine unpredictable self and plummeted to a brisk 9 degrees for the entirety of their celebration. It was cold…and windy…and dark. It was the beginning of the great transition that we’ll come to experience over the next few months…and it was challenging!
My terrific second shooter, Barbara Kato-Mackenzie, and I arrived bundled in coats and scarves and a warmth of spirit that we hoped would carry us through the day, only to have our certain “joie to vivre” meet its match by one of the most amazing couples you’ll ever encounter! And I should have known better too because from the moment that I met these two, they’ve left me uplifted…energized…and smiling from ear to ear. They are the very essence of what you need at the end of your season because they are truly great. Not just great clients…but a great couple with a great love that makes even the coldest of days fill with laughter and inspiration.
Holly and Jeff, I can’t think of a better couple to be with on this particular day. You were beyond troopers as we dragged you {and your fantastic wedding party!} through the tumultuously rainy weather for all of your pictures. You have been an absolute privilege to work with from the very first time I met you and it was an honour to watch you commit your lives to each other. I can only hope that all of my seasons wrap up with clients that I adore as much as you two…
