From my earliest days as a little girl, I’ve always been writing. Whether I was writing long letters home from camp, writing ongoing chapters to my favourite books, or writing about the experience of becoming a parent, I am first and foremost, a lover of the written word.

Much of my own interest in the use of storytelling as a healing tool was derived from my own healing found through writing. To bring life to our story is to fully own our story, even as that story continues to unfold.

Both of these books are a by-product of that process, and I have been fortunate enough to watch them find beautifully safe places to land all around the world.

I am currently working on my third book about the legacy of generational trauma and learning to live in an incomplete story.

WRITING TO HEAL

Every day, the stories of our lives are being shaped by millions of small moments—the little details, the sparks in between, the tiny fragments that, when they are ready, begin to connect and to change who we are and how we see the world and our place in it. Genevieve Georget, with her raw truth, walks us through the tiny details of the year in her life that cracked her open, pierced through the curated walls that were built around her, and, in so doing, brought her to a place of surrender and a true understanding of hope. Her stories and experiences are a picture of the beautiful truth that, in your struggle, in your pain, in your triumph and joys, you are not alone.

This book opens the door, calls to you, and allows you to follow the journey of the year that tried to break her; to explore the words that never failed her; to experience images that capture her; and to see how her experiences—the painful, the inspiring, the confusing, the enchanting—gently changed her.

Solace: A Journal of Human Experience is about how comfort, consolation, and community can heal broken hearts, mend deep wounds, and restore hearts toward love.

It’s a book that invites you into the exquisite dance of it all.

For most of her life, GENEVIEVE GEORGET has struggled to navigate the brokenness that comes with being human---broken heart, broken past, broken sense of self. Constantly fighting to find a path to the other side of the pain, it wasn't until she started writing---putting words on paper and seeing her story evolve that she found the light she so desperately sought.

Writing helped make sense of the hurt and find purpose in the struggle. It helped her let go of the darkness that gripped her heart and make room for something new.

Writing healed her.

Writing helped make sense of the hurt and find purpose in the struggle. It helped her let go of the darkness that gripped her heart and make room for something new.

Writing healed her.

For the past ten years, Gen has sat before a simple piece of paper to find her way through marriage, family, parenting, anxiety, faith and everything in between. The act of writing is what helped her put the fragmented pieces of herself back together.

Her Own Wild Winds is those pieces in a collection of experiences, stories and lessons gathered over time that, together, create a life.

She could tell you that this book is about love and loss and joy and pain. But if she's being completely honest (which is what she does best), it's about a bunch of words that set her free. It's not a book about how she healed; it's the actual book in which she healed.

It's a story about a book that saved its writer.

This is Genevieve's first book.
