KATHI & LEE: WEDDING

So, question for you…

Is the world really that small…or do we just move in small circles??

A friend of mine and I have been pondering this question for a while and every day, as the universe plays more and more tricks on me…I find myself less and less sure of the answer!

Josh and I met back at a restaurant in our second year of university.  We became fast friends.  We had classes together…shared many of the same interests, but time and circumstance sort of got in the way and our friendship didn’t really continue much past that year.  A few years ago, as I was driving home from work, I heard his family name mentioned on the radio {his family are business owners in the area} and found myself compelled to look him up to see where he was and how he was doing.  Of course, Facebook was the obvious place to start and sure enough, there he was…his profile picture staring back at me and looking just as I had always remembered him.  After a quick little message, it seemed like we were right back where we left off…as though time had never really past…as though those years had never really come between us.

He lives in Toronto now and every six months or so, we manage to get together over coffee or dinner.  We usually end up in hysterics over one thing or another {I love friends like that!} and catching up for hours on end regarding the various happenings of our lives at that time.  No matter what though, we always find ourselves in a discussion about fate, coincidence, destiny and all of the gray areas that are found in between.

No doubt, the universe is a pretty crazy place.  It has certainly offered up enough twist and turns to capture my attention.  And every time, I can’t help but look up at the heavens and smile at all of the little tricks they seem to be playing!  And I have to admit…I kind of love living in a world like that!

Kathi and Lee’s recent wedding happen to provide yet another one of those glorious moments that I can’t wait to tell my dear friend about…

Kathi and I had been organizing the logistics of her gorgeous wedding at the Notre-Dame Cathedral and Metropolitain Brasserie Restaurant for some time.  We had lists of locations, contact information and timelines.  All in all…we were ready!  I had my amazing second shooter, Brad Bouzane, all set to meet up with the boys before hand while I would be spending the morning with the girls at the Chateau Laurier and we would ultimately meet up at the church for their ceremony.  Well, as it turned out, Brad arrived at the church, was introduced to the father of the bride…only to discover that he already knew the father of the bride.  In fact, he already knew the entire family…including the bride!  I suppose this is as good a time as any to mention that Brad and Kathi grew up in a small little town in Newfoundland…down the street from each other!!!

So, there you have it…a childhood reunion on the steps of the Notre-Dame Cathedral before the big “I do”!  Even I couldn’t believe it!!!  But, some moments really are just that awesome!  Some moments really do call for a celebration of a bigger kind!  Some moments are just so perfect that even the Universe wants to make sure It doesn’t get left out of the fun!!

Kathi and Lee, you certainly provided that perfectly awesome moment…and someone obviously wanted you to know that they were watching!!  Can you blame them though?  It was a pretty spectacular day!!
