Have you ever seen the movie Almost Famous?  It’s a great one and definitely a favourite in the Smyth house!  It’s about a young journalist who follows a rock band on tour and in turn, learns about life, love and everything in between.  Really, if you haven’t seen it already…add it to your list {and the music is fantastic!}.

This movie is where Steve and I became familiar with the term “it’s all happening” and it’s become a well-used phrase around these parts as of late!

We just arrived home last night after a ten hour drive from South Western Ontario.  I was shooting a wedding in Kitchener while my boys spent the holiday weekend with family near Chatham.  After a long {but amazing} thirteen hour day on Saturday, I drove to meet up with everyone and enjoy what was left of the spectacular weather and indulge in some much needed Thanksgiving feasting {note: I’m now in some serious need of detox!}!

As we endured the tedious hours on the road yesterday, it became clear to us just how much “it’s all happening” in our life right now.  It being a string of perfectly aligned stars.  It being all the pieces falling so beautifully into place.  It being those unbelievable times in life that must be cherished and held onto because you know that they don’t last forever.  It is all happening right now.

With fourteen weddings down, I have one left to go!  And it’s been the most amazing year so far.  But it’s official…we’re getting down to the wire, folks!  I have ten more sessions to go over a twenty day period, ending with my last wedding in Toronto {God Bless in-laws willing to come to town to help out with our munchkin in the meantime!!}.  Then…it’s a month of wrapping things up with final edits and album designs before I call it a day in anticipation of Christmas and the adventure of a lifetime…our baby girl!

How we got to this place and time is beyond me but, here we are…with the light at the end of the tunnel not too far away and everything easing its way off our ‘to-do’ list…slowly but surely.  I have massage appointments booked…coffee dates marked in the calendar…and a nursery waiting to be sprinkled with some sugar and spice, and everything nice!  I can’t wait!  I can’t wait for this afternoon…tomorrow…next week…next month.  I can’t wait to watch life unfold over the next little while…to watch it all happen.

And in those brief moments when things seem to take on a life of its own or the clouds start to roll in…I just run my fingers over my face as though a dream is suddenly becoming reality and gently remind myself…”It’s all happening, Gen…it’s all happening…”

And to give you a little glimpse of what happened over the holiday weekend…this beauty was the spotlight of my day!  Stunning, I tell you…stunning!
