ALICIA: PORTRAITS

Taking the leap to become self-employed can be one of the scariest things ever.  Especially in any creative venture.  Putting yourself out there, in front of the world’s subjectivity, requires brave steps.

Even now, six years later, I still have moments in which I wonder if it will all come crashing down around me.

And this is why, in the midst of all the fear and all the excitement that comes with self-employment, it’s important to have a network to share in all the emotions.  People who recognize the dichotomy and who understand the pull.  People who have faith in the drive and belief in the reward.  People who get what you are trying to do and hoping to create.

I’d like you meet Alicia, from Partner Weddings and Events.  This red-headed firecracker of a girl is on her way down the same road…a road that she’ll pave and mark and beautifully colour coordinate along the way.  She’s also getting married next year (and having the seriously brilliant Christian Lee there to photograph it!) and taking all of her wedding planning expertise with her!

The two of us took some time a couple of weeks ago to snap some new images for her website and honestly, this girl is a gem!  I adore her!  And when it comes down to having people in your corner…to laugh with…to vent with…to drink wine with…she’s one that I want!!

Because this road that we walk can be hard at times.  But with the right people…it’s a whole lot easier…
