There is something immensely bittersweet about the last days of summer…

On one hand, I just love Autumn.  And by love, I mean…I would marry Autumn…and send it tiny little love notes every single day.  I love it that much.  I just adore the entire season and all that comes with it.  After what always ends up being a crazy busy two months, I love settling into a new routine and having the opportunity to be at home for a while.

But on the other hand…we’re saying goodbye to summer.  And though I’m admittedly not a huge fan…it’s still summer.  Warm, luscious summer.  And as the air gets cooler, I find myself suddenly reminded of how long it will be before I wear my flip-flops again or eat the tastiest strawberries and peaches of the year.  Goodbyes are such sweet sorrows!

The thing about the end of summer is that you can actually feel it happening.  You can feel it in the way the wind blows and the way the air smells.  You just know when you’re the in the midst of those last couple of days before leaves start changing all around you.

Jessica, Marc and I found ourselves right in the middle of those last days.  We met up for their engagement session and we could feel ourselves surrounded by warm breezes that were saying their final goodbyes for another calendar year.  And just to make sure we didn’t forget…the horizon gave us a show to remember.

And with that, Jessica and Marc give us a last little taste of the season gone by…
