YANYING & ADAM: WEDDING

Do you ever find the world to be a despairing place?  It seems all too easy to get taken over by the ravages of sadness and fear nowadays.  Perhaps now even more than ever.  It’s as though every time you turn on the television, it’s filled with stories of death and tragedy.  Each time you open the paper, it recalls tales of crime and poverty.  Mother Nature is in a constant state of unleashing her wrath of earthquakes and hurricanes…all of our food – even the healthy ones – have become the cause for cancerous concern and every time we turn around, there is something new to be weary of.  It’s not an easy time to live in.

But, despite all of this, I still believe that there is more good in the world than bad.  We just don’t hear about it as often.  I still believe that happiness wins in the end…you just have to look for its victory.  And look for it fiercely.  And that’s just a small part of what I love so much about the gift that God has bestowed on me in the form of photography…the opportunity to be a part of that good in the world.  In essence, my entire craft is based around other people’s most beautiful moments; getting engaged…saying ‘I do’…expecting a child.  And it doesn’t get any better than that!  My work is so often a glimmering light in the midst of so many looming shadows.

Yanying and Adam have been the pure essence of that resounding light.  Through downpours during their engagement session to the curve balls of their wedding day…their love, excitement and affection shined through.  Through the dark storm clouds to the tornado warnings…their joy prevailed.   All the time.  And I adore them for it!  I adore that nothing was going to interrupt what their day was all about.  I adore that no amount of turbulence was going to keep the smiles from their faces.  I adore that they rose above everything swirling around them.

Because no matter what happens tomorrow or next week or next year…right now, two people are in love.  Right now, two doctors that met during their first week of residency stood before their family and friends to commit their lives to each other.  Right now, there is a whole lot of good in the world.

Thank you, Yanying and Adam, for choosing to share it all with me…
