I’m a pretty sentimental person at the best of times. Just show me an outfit that one of my kids wore as a baby and I’m a complete mess! But one thing I never anticipated when becoming a wedding photographer, was how attached I would get to my couples. While running a relational business has always been one of my biggest priorities, I’ve often been surprised at the feelings that come when you say goodbye at the end of a wedding night.
I’ve been tagging alongside Jen and Mark for awhile now as life has unfolded for them in some of the most beautiful ways. When we first met over coffee, they were planning not only their wedding…but also for becoming parents. Their engagement session doubled as a maternity session and a few short months later, I joined them in their home to meet their little man for the very first time.
This life that we live…this art that we make…it means something to us as well. It means something to stand present for those huge moments in someone’s life. It means something to tell the story of who you are and who you are becoming.
After all that we’ve documented together over the last eighteen months…it was bittersweet to hug them goodnight.
But alas…here’s hoping it’s only until next time…
