Have you ever played with those little wooden toy trains before?  The ones with the magnets on either end and tracks that snap together like a puzzle?

My son loves those trains and can spend hours playing with them.  But they make him frustrated.  He doesn’t understand the concept of magnets and in turn, often time finds himself trying to attach two train cars that would rather push each other away.

Every time I watch him battle it out with those trains…it makes me think of relationships and the way we humans also tend to battle it out.  We push people away…we attract others towards us…and all until we find that one great match.  That one person that – while in many cases is very opposite to us – just clicks.

One of the best parts of my job is doing engagement sessions…seeing my couples together in front of the camera for the first time and getting to know some of those little things that make them so great for each other.  I love getting to discover the differences between them that – just like our toy trains – ended up fitting!

Lisa and Mike are one of those couples…those wonderfully clicking couples!  She – is beautiful and soft spoken…refined in every way.  He – is handsome and charming…protective by nature.  Together, they are an ideal match.  She fits perfectly in his arms and he fits perfectly in her heart.  It just doesn’t get any better than that!

And one day, when Hudson finally gets around to asking why the toy trains work the way the do…I’ll think of couples like Lisa and Mike.  I’ll think of all their differences that make them good for each other and then tell Hudson the only true answer that I can really think of…

That sometimes…it’s just how the world intended it to be…
