LAUREN & JOE: ENGAGEMENT

I’m not going to lie…I’m a pretty lucky girl!  I have some of the best friends that I girl could ever ask for.  Some of them are newer in my life and a few of them go way back to when I was a completely different person…but either way, life without these friends wouldn’t be nearly as bright as it is!

When I consider each and every one of them though, there is one common thread that shows up in each of our individual friendships; conversation.  As all of us get older, it becomes a bit more challenging to be in touch the way we were as teenagers.  New jobs, spouses, big moves, children…all of these things play a part in making the art of friendship that much more deliberate.  Relationships take work, I’ve discovered…and the older you get, the more work they take.  Somehow though, regardless of how much time goes by, when I sit down for coffee or pick up the phone with one of my closest…we just end up picking up right where we left off.  Sometimes its only a matter of weeks, but other times entire months go by…and regardless, it’s as though we never missed a beat.  As far as I’m concerned, this is the mark of a truly great friendship!

Life as a photographer provides the opportunity to meet some pretty extraordinary people and many of these people, I am now blessed to call my friends.  That’s how awesome my job is!!!  A few months ago, when I met with Lauren and Joe, we sat around their dining room table talking about children, weddings, hockey and all of the other important things in life!  When we met up at Starbucks last week for their engagement shoot…take a guess what happened?!?!  We picked up right where we left off!!!!  In fact, I spent the next two hours feeling like I’ve always known Lauren and Joe…like we’ve been friends since we were kids.  Basically, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world knowing that my work and their great love story had brought us all together!  The world really is such a beautiful place!

Lauren and Joe…there are no words for how awesome you are!  I adore you and can’t wait to spend your gorgeous wedding day with you.  Furthermore, I’m excited for all of the time that you’re going to be stuck with me after your wedding because frankly, I’ve decided that this is the beginning of a very beautiful friendship!!!!!!
