I’m a dreamer.  Through and through.

Which means that I live in my head…dreaming up everything from mood…to feeling…to the way dinner will smell as it’s cooking.  My head is a flurry of visions and honestly, it’s almost funny how many things turn out completely different then that initial desire.

Like the Pinterest birthday party that didn’t come together in quite the right way.  Or the red lipstick that apparently doesn’t look the same on me as it does to the redhead with all the freckles.  Or the meal that burned in the first two minutes.

Welcome to my life!  And for the record…it’s kind of awesome!  Because frankly, there’s a certain degree of nobility in the effort!

And the same can be said for the amazing afternoon spent with Jen and Jonny!

We had visions of a cabin in the woods or the perfect rustic barn…we saw beautiful falling snow and cuddles in the midst of it all.  And in our minds, it was all coming together perfectly.  Until it didn’t!!

Until the snow was actually up to our thighs…until the walls of our rustic barn were covered in spray paint…until our little cabin in the woods actually had someone living there!  In a sleeping bag…on the ground!!  Oh, and it was freezing.  Beyond freezing, actually!

But you know what didn’t fall through?  The fact that Jen and Jonny were in love…the fact that they were the biggest troopers of anyone I know…and the fact that, regardless of any conditions whatsoever, they are totally amazing!

And that’s how it goes with life; it’s still an occasion worth celebrating even if the invitations don’t turn out…the lipstick still looks great on someone, even if it’s not me…and the meal is still worth savoring, even if Martha’s version looks far more appealing.

And yes, love is still incredible and amazing…even when the surroundings in our head look a little bit different!
