I have a pretty standard rule that I apply to all couples. Granted, it’s not really a rule that I can usually (read: at all!) enforce…but it’s a rule that I believe should apply to all couples and by default, I basically expect the Universe to cooperate.
The rule goes like this:
If the weather is unruly and horrible for your engagement session…and we’ve toughed it out anyways…then the Universe owes us beautiful weather for your wedding.
This all sounds very reasonable to me and although there have been times when this rule has failed us miserably…there is the odd time when the Universe throws us bone and cooperates beautifully!
Jen and Jonny’s wedding was one of those rare instances!
We anticipated cold and snow for their engagement session (it’s generally what happens when you shoot in the winter!)…but this was a new level of cold and snow. The snow was up past my knees and given that Jen is at least three inches shorter than I am…we nearly lost her in the drifts! And the cold…the unbelievable…mind numbing cold. It was true evidence that Mother Nature was not messing around when she created winter in this part of the world.
But, their wedding day was spectacular. Warm, peaceful, filled with golden sunlight. The exact opposite of their engagement session and everything you hope your Autumn wedding will be.
So, what does all of this really mean? It means proof. Proof that I just might have super powers after all and that the Universe actually listens to me sometimes… 😉
That was a fun night! Nice pics Genevieve!
