Growing up, we shared a cottage along the water in the Muskokas.  We spent so much time there in the summer months with friends and family that I can hardly remember the countless memories.  What I do remember though, is the rain.

I love the rain!  I love the feeling I get when it rains and I love the way the whole slows down when the skies open up.  There’s something so cozy…calming…and even romantic about the rain.  As the very first rain falls, I can’t help but want to crawl under a blanket with a good book and a warm drink.

And the rain is different when you’re out of the city.  You can hear it hitting the leaves as they plummet towards the ground…you can smell in the air…you can feel the change of pace in your bones.  Rain in cottage country just isn’t the same as rain in the city.

Rain in the woods in amazing!!

It rained during Anaique and Alex’s wedding.  It rained during their ceremony and it rained during their reception.  It rained during the family photos and it rained as guests stood outside.  It rained a lot.

And yet, my memory of their wedding day isn’t one of panic or stress.  It’s one of being tucked away in the woods as nature changed her landscape.  The air was still warm…and the birds still sang.  The leaves had begun to fall…ultimately, the sun graced us with her presence.

But it was cozy…relaxing…and wildly romantic.

Under collective umbrellas…under candlelit mason jars…under twinkle lights between the trees…

Under beautiful rain drops, in the family yard…we slowed down for a while to watch two become one!
