With two little munchkins under our belt…I get asked often about the most valuable piece of advice that was offered to us prior to becoming parents.  Honestly, we got a lot of advice.  We got advice from family…advice from friends…advice from total strangers walking down the street.  We got advice that we sought out…we got advice through experience…and we got plenty of advice that we didn’t even ask for.  But of all the advice we got along the way…there is one that became tried of true from the very beginning right through until now.

Laugh.

Plain and simple.

Laugh.

This was a piece of advice that seemed really hard to remember when Hudson had been crying for the fourth hour in a row or when Avery thought that sweet potatoes were better suited in her hair than in her mouth.  In those moments…it’s not always easy to laugh.  But in those moments…it’s essential to laugh.

Laughing carried us through changing two dozen diapers a day and a little boy who didn’t have a fearful bone in his entire body.  Laughing carried us through a little girl who thought sleeping was for fools and having two toddlers conspiring to burn down our house every other day.

Laughing carried us through.

And based on this advice alone…I’m certain that Sanna and David are going to make the most amazing parents!  They laughed through the wretched humidity on the night of our session.  They laughed through mosquitoes eating us all alive.  They laughed with each other and they laughed at each other.

They laughed.

And when their beautiful baby girl makes her appearance in this world…laughing will carry them through the dichotomy of parental emotions.  From realizing that it takes four days to get through a movie on Netflix to never eating your food again while it’s still warm.  They are going to rock parenting like it’s what they were always meant to do.

They will remember this amazing time in their life.

They will fall in love with each other all over again.

And they will laugh…
