MIRIAM & MICHEL: PORTRAITS

“I never liked jazz music because jazz music doesn’t resolve.  But sometimes you have to watch somebody love something before you can love it yourself…”

That’s what is written on the back cover of my favourite book – Blue Like Jazz – by Donald Miller.  And honestly, it’s part of what I love most about the book…the idea of watching someone love something else.  Because everyone loves differently, it makes witnessing love – in all it’s forms – so beautiful…so poetic…so much of a learning experience.

I get to see a lot of life in my chosen profession.  It’s the very essence of what I do.  But it might even be the best part of what I do because nothing reminds you of how much true beauty lies hidden in every corner than having the opportunity to document it.

Sometimes though, what you’re documenting isn’t just love.  It’s something else.  It’s something deep…something quiet…something profound.  It’s something that you simply have to see for yourself.  It’s just that beautiful.

I’m sure that anyone who has seen Miriam and Michel together know exactly what I’m talking about.  They know that these two possess a certain “je ne sais quoi” about them that can’t quite be explained.  It can only be seen.

In a very short time from now…these two wonderful people will be among family, friends and the great woods of B.C. to say their vows to each other…to take that magic something of theirs and make it one.

We chose not to call these ‘engagement pictures’ because these are about so much more than just a wedding.  They are about a marriage…about sharing the journey together…about a union that’s been a lifetime in the making.

Miriam and Michel, I have absolutely loved the time that I got to spend with both of you.  Watching you love each other is a blessing to witness and even more so to document.  I wish you the most beautiful of wedding days…a magnificent honeymoon…and I hope that these ‘pre-getting hitched’ pictures can show even just a fraction of how amazing you are together!!
