KIRSTIN & PATRICK: PORTRAITS

Once upon a time, an amazing couple welcomed a beautiful baby girl – Phoebe Rose – to their family.  They were elated…ecstatic…blessed.

Nine weeks later, they found out that their little daughter had cancer and they were about to begin the fight of their life.  The fight of her life.

Honestly, I can’t hear stories like this.  It is, without a doubt, my worst nightmare.  The very thought of it makes me want to take my son in my arms and never let him go.  I don’t know how parents do it.  I  hope that I don’t ever have to know how those parents do it.  But for those that do know all too well, my heart just aches for them and sadly, I never feel like there is enough to be done to help.  I imagine that when your child is sick…your world just stops and stands still in that place until all is right again.

When I was contacted to see if I would be interested in contributing to a silent auction to help raise funds for Phoebe’s family and the many expenses that come with long term treatment…all I could do was say yes, yes…a million times yes.  And so, a bunch of us who don’t know…can’t know…hope we never have to know…did our best to help someone who does.

Kirstin and Patrick are the ones who bid on my portrait session.  And they also happen to be the aunt and uncle of the beautiful little girl who is showing the world what the true meaning of strength really is.  Their update on Phoebe Rose brought a welcome sigh of relief.  While she’s not out of the woods yet, she is proving that healing is one of humanity’s greatest achievements.

Thank you both so much for coming out and spending the morning with me.  Thank you for bringing me such great news and thank you for being such amazing support to this incredible family!
