“It was the best of times…it was the worst of times…”

That’s how the saying goes, isn’t it?

I remember thinking this after our first year of being parents.  We had never laughed so much…cried so much…wondered what the heck we were doing so much!!

A good friend of mine once told me that having children was like living in colour for the first time…and looking back, truer words have never been spoken!  It’s everything you ever imagined and a hundred things you never could have expected.

I would like you to meet sweet baby Scarlet!

The road to meeting this little lady hasn’t been an easy one.  It’s been filled with more patience and challenge than I’m sure either of her amazing parents could have anticipated.  It’s been filled with grief…with endurance…and ultimately, with a baby girl that put all of the broken pieces back together again!

The moment that I walked through their door on a cold Saturday morning, I immediately thought of what my dear friend had once told me…because there – within those walls – lived colour.  Vibrant and amazing colour.  There was so much grace…so much bravery…so much immense love.

Baby Scarlet recently endured her second heart surgery and is currently recovering with the strength of a warrior.

And when all is said and done…she will come home and continue life as the adored miracle that she is.

But in the meantime…behold, the radiant colour…
