Nothing changed more when we had our children than our sense of time!  Time, suddenly became this commodity.  This form of currency that we were constantly bargaining for.  I actually laughed out loud one afternoon when I found myself pleaded with my six week old son for ten minutes to have a shower!  That is what my life became; a constant state of negotiation between me and the tiny little humans that we had brought into the world!!  We often joke now that our lives are ruled by three foot dictators!

And from the moment they enter the world…that is just one of the many adjustments that you come to know as a parent.  Your time simply isn’t your own anymore.

Sometimes, however, those little ones start calling the shots before they’ve even formally met their parents…and in the case of beautiful little Amélie…that is exactly what happened!

It’s always so exciting for me to get that first email or phone call letting me know about the newest arrival!  But getting a text about Amélie’s birth and the fact that they never even made it to the hospital…that was a first for me!  And one that left me even more excited to meet this gorgeous little lady!

So, I showed up on a beautiful Saturday morning, with my coffee and my camera, to finally get introduced to this wonder that we had been waiting so patiently for.  And let me tell you…she’s a beauty!

And it turns out that Amélie just wasn’t interested in waiting.  She wanted nothing to do with rush hour traffic…hospitals…or even getting out the door.  So the living room it was!  Amélie made her appearance in a ridiculously timely fashion, leaving Mom and Dad not only with one of the sweetest little daughters ever…but with official status as total rock stars!!

You see, folks…that’s why God makes them so incredibly sweet; so when you have an unexpected drug-free, home birth…you still want to keep them around for cuddles!

Amélie, you have stolen our hearts!  With your tiny little toes…your stunning little face…and your beautifully wonderful soul!  Just do your parents a favour…and settle down on the drama for a while!
