There is a difference between a wedding and a marriage.

We forget this sometimes as we are choosing flowers and trying on dresses and practicing first dances. But really, the most beautiful part of any wedding, is the marriage that is being honoured.

And during that day, there is a moment.

A moment when any couple looks around and sees all of the friends and family that have come together to celebrate with them.

This, is my favourite part.

Because show me a couple sharing their vows, and I’ll show you a group of people who helped get them there.

Whether it’s that excited call you made to a roommate when you first met the love of your life, or the sister who let you cry after your first big fight, or the friends who have helped plan the details of your big day.

No married couple is an island.

And during my decade of documenting weddings, I don’t know that I’ve ever been more overwhelmed by the beauty of people that gathered to watch Cecilia and Monet get married.

There were tears, there was laughter, and there was unwavering love for the two people who were starting a new story together.

There is no photo that will do justice to the energy that surrounded this day. But there are beautiful sunsets and a dress that will take your breath away…
