A number of years ago, when I was in New York City…I walked into this beautiful dress store. Unlike everything else in Manhattan…he seemed especially small and quaint. There was a gorgeous chandelier hanging from the center of the room and each wall had a simple white trim running along perfectly painted walls. Bright windows gently lit dozens of the most refined dresses I had ever seen.
When I first walked in…I just stood there. I was taken aback by the beauty of it all…the perfect combination of it all…the unmistakeable harmony of it all. Something about the various elements complimented each other in the most eloquent of ways.
Many years later, when I was back in New York…I walked into that same store, only to relive that same feeling. There may have been a fresh coat of paint and the dresses changed along with the times…but nothing else was different. And why would it? Everything was just as it needed to be the very first time. Because, honestly – great taste never goes out of style.
Walking into Emily and Hugh’s wedding gave me much the same feeling. A beautifully soft colour palette…elegant attire…thoughtful details. Everything just fit together in a way that told you something amazing was about to happen. Then – of course – there was a couple so wonderfully in love…so perfectly suited to each other…so ready to start this new part of their lives together.
The more you witnessed their wedding day, the more you just knew that fifty years from now…they would look back and never feel like they needed to change a thing. They had created a day – surrounded by family and friends – that would withstand the test of time.
Because – as we all know – true love never goes out of style…
