I remember the stillness of waking up on the morning of my own wedding.  It was a little after 5am and I felt more rested than I had in weeks.  When I finally rolled out of bed, the creaking of my bedroom door began to stir the other bodies strewn about our apartment.  After taking a deep breath…I immediately walked outside onto our deck, only to find the most perfect summer day.  The sky was blue…the air was warm…and there was a beautiful cool breeze that blew my hair from my face.

With my wedding dress hanging in the other room…with my soon-to-be husband at the hotel downtown…and with the world still waking up around me, I felt happy.  We had planned this day for thirteen months and with only hours to go until we made it official, there was something so liberating about knowing that there was nothing left to be done.

We couldn’t tweak the seating plan anymore…I couldn’t hem my dress anymore…we couldn’t adjust the menu anymore…we couldn’t print programs anymore.  The planning was done.  The engagement was done.  It was time to let go and it was time to get married.

Waking up on the morning of Catherine and Darcy’s wedding felt much the same way.  The sky was blue…the air was warmer…and the sun glimmered perfectly through the leaves on the trees.  With Darcy at a friend’s house and Catherine relaxing with her girls…you could tell it was time.  They both quietly got ready in their own nervous and anticipated way.  They laughed with their friends…they breathed deeply…and let go.

Under the skies of a perfect Saturday afternoon…there was nothing left to do.

It was time to let go…it was time to get married…
