KERI & GREG: ENGAGEMENT

It is, by far, one of my favourite days of the year…

It’s the day that you walk outside for the first time and feel warmth instead of shivers.  It’s the day that you lift your face up to the sun and the air just smells different.  It’s the day in which the snow starts melting, the birds start singing, and the world starts rising again.

Everything feels lighter all of the sudden.  Our worries…our layers of clothing…our attachment to the season we’ve so intimately come to know.  Just like that…our spirits have been lifted.

It’s the day that tells you Spring is just around the corner.

For those of us who spend a fair bit of the year enduring cold climates…you know this feeling well!  And you know how exciting it is to feel as though long term warmth is near!  For some, it’s the mere thought of summer dresses and pretty, painted toes.  For others, it’s steak on the back deck and football in the park.  For me, it’s my camera.  After what tends to be a much slower season throughout the winter, my camera and I finally get to go out and play together once again.  And the idea of it…the feel of it…the very sight of Spring evening light makes my heart skip a beat!

When Keri, Greg and I started planning out their engagement session, we were anticipating a set of images covered in snow…images that were going to contrast those that followed their upcoming summer wedding.  But instead, we found ourselves playing in the woods on that day.  That beautiful, warm Spring day that spoiled us with golden sunlight…warm comforting breezes…and believe it or not…short sleeves.  In March!!

So here I was…enjoying the first session of my upcoming season in the most indulgent of ways; on that day…enjoying that weather…with that amazing couple in front of my camera {whom I happen to adore!}.

I hope that it goes without saying, but as far as opening acts go, it truly doesn’t get any better than…{you guessed it!}…that!
