LESLEY & SIMON: WEDDING

Today marks the very first day of the 2014 Olympics!  And I love love LOVE the Olympics!

For three weeks straight, I sit on my couch at all hours of the day and I watch the most gifted athletes in the world do what they do best.  And I never get enough of it!  My personal preference is the winter Olympics but, at the end of the day…I love it all.

What always strikes me the most about these athletes, is that they make everything look so easy.  And I know that it’s not.  I know – deep down – that there is very little that is easy about what they are doing.  But it appears effortless for those of us watching from far away.  Everything they do just flows…just eases so naturally.  And it makes sense because they’ve been preparing for a really time.  For some, their whole lives.  And that commitment to what they adore makes it come off as seamless.  And that – right there – is the magic of the Olympics.

Lesley and Simon’s wedding started out as a beautiful winter day.  It was mild…it was calm…and it was sunny.

Until suddenly…it wasn’t!

Within a little less than hour of leaving my house, the tides turned and what had promised to be an easy day to maneuver weather wise, turned into the ravages of Canadian winter!  The winds went a little crazy…the snowdrifts took out entire roads…and the temperature plummeted over the course of mere hours.  By the time their formal portraits rolled around…it was cooooold!  Furthermore, the main artery west of the wedding venue ended up closing due to traffic accidents…leaving some wedding guests unable make it.  All in all, it wasn’t necessarily the best conditions in which the celebrate one of the most wonderful days of your life.

But all in all, Lesley and Simon aren’t just your average couple either…

As the day continued on and we tackled the various challenges one at a time…these two handled it like the very best of champions.  They made it look easy.  They made it look like it was the most perfect summer day in which every thing had gone off without a hitch.  They made it look effortless.

But you know what…it makes total sense because – they too – had been waiting their whole lives for this.  They had been waiting their whole lives for this one day with the person they adored.  And that commitment made everything seamless.  Even standing in the cold while the wind tore through the shores of the St-Lawrence…everything about them just flowed…just eased so naturally.

Whether you were there to witness it up close or will be seeing it for the first time from a distance…

This – right here – is the magic of Lesley and Simon…
