GENEVIEVE GEORGET

IN PERSON

SEEN HERE

BOOKS

It started somewhere between reading Harriet the Spy and writing letters home from camp. It started when the pen wouldn’t leave my hand and the words wouldn’t leave my mind. It started over space and time and met me somewhere right in the middle.

It started the same way all great love affairs do; intensely, beautifully, passionately.

I write because of the air that lingers between us. I write because of the truth that lives in that space where one of us ends and the other begins. I write because in our own unique way…we’re all connected.

I write because I believe that two of the most powerful words in the english language are “me too”. Two words that blow over us and wrap us in the comfort of all our common threads. Two words that can reach down into the darkness and pull us all from the wreckage. Two words that can bring us all together and make us feel less alone.

Two words.

But in order for those words to exist…someone needs to blink first.

And so I write.

I write that so that we can all take a running leap off the edge of that wooden dock into the deep, cold water. I write so that we can make our own waves as we bravely jump into the unknown. I write so that those ripples we’ve created might reach the farthest shores…to a place where we will hear the most beautiful of whispers…

“Me too”.

GRACE & TRUTH

writer

“She brought out the storm in people, because she knew wherever there were dark skies and wild winds, lied a truth, a truth that described how much love one can leave behind the moment they accept all the pain they have lived.

And that is all she ever wanted, for everyone around her to embrace their storms and make them fall in love with their own violent winds.”

For most of her life, GENEVIEVE GEORGET has struggled to navigate the brokenness that comes with being human---broken heart, broken past, broken sense of self. Constantly fighting to find a path to the other side of the pain, it wasn't until she started writing---putting words on paper and seeing her story evolve that she found the light she so desperately sought.

Writing helped make sense of the hurt and find purpose in the struggle. It helped her let go of the darkness that gripped her heart and make room for something new.

Writing healed her.

Writing healed her.

For the past ten years, Gen has sat before a simple piece of paper to find her way through marriage, family, parenting, anxiety, faith and everything in between. The act of writing is what helped her put the fragmented pieces of herself back together.

Her Own Wild Winds is those pieces in a collection of experiences, stories and lessons gathered over time that, together, create a life.

She could tell you that this book is about love and loss and joy and pain. But if she's being completely honest (which is what she does best), it's about a bunch of words that set her free. It's not a book about how she healed; it's the actual book in which she healed.

It's a story about a book that saved it's writer.

This is Genevieve's first book.
