I knew when I embarked on being a business owner that there were certain things I wanted to achieve as a result.

I knew I wanted to build something…to create…to make something meaningful with my time and skills.

But, when you step out onto an adventure that you’ve never done before, you end up faced with a lot of things that you never could have anticipated.  Sometimes the work is harder than you thought…sometimes the challenges are bigger than you imagined…sometimes the timing doesn’t always line up quite right.

And then there’s the amazing things you couldn’t anticipate.  The things that you overlooked as some of the great beauty that lies within creating.  For me, that was the relationships.

In all the time that I dreamed about my business…worked towards my business…and built my business…I never could have anticipated how much some of those people that I’d meet along the way would impact my life.

Take Morgane and Alex, for example…

We met over coffee one night to talk about their wedding.  That ended, three hours later, with a text from my husband that said “are you ever coming home?!?!”  Oh, and we hadn’t begun talking about their wedding yet!!!

I’ve photographed their engagement…their absolutely incredible wedding…and now, as they embark on one of life’s greatest adventures, I’ll be there for that too!

We have have spent so many evenings talking for hours…we have laughed and cried and shared every emotion in between.  We have talked more about everything else other than their wedding.  And those friendships…those chats over coffee long into the night…those moments in life that I get to witness with my camera in hand; those are things I never could have anticipated.

And those are the things that have made every moment of it worthwhile.
