Nearly a decade ago, I met my friend, Julie!

We met each other through work and quickly became fast friends.  Friends that drank lots of coffee together and friends that got up super early in the morning to see Blue Rodeo together and friends that would – over time – experience many of life’s changes together.

I was a very different person when I first met Julie.  I was going through one of the most difficult periods in my life and even now, looking back, I hardly recognize the person I once was.  And I often believe that when a person comes out of the darkness, it can be hard to be around the people that knew you in that place.  It can be hard to look at them and know that they’ve seen that part of you that you never want to remember.

But I’ve never felt that way around Julie.  Because Julie never made me feel like I was someone that I didn’t like.  Julie brought out the best in people and the best in what they liked about themselves.  And that’s really the beautiful thing about Julie; we’re all immensely better people because of her.

So, years ago, when my dear friend told me all about this man that had come along and swept her off her feet, I had no doubt that he too, would be definitely worth knowing!  It’s been about four years since I first heard Vas’ name lingering in the air…and finally, a short while ago, it was time.  My time, to meet this guy!

And let me tell you, he was everything you could possibly want for a friend who has known you through it all.

He meets her contagious smile and undeniable style.  He meets her perfect laugh and her sense of adventure.  He meets her love of good food and her appreciation of life.  He meets her right where she stands.

And together, they we are all better for it!
