Anyone who has ever had children knows the agony of trying to choose a name!  Growing up with a name like mine, I got asked almost on a weekly basis if I was from Europe.  Or from a royal family!!  Each conversation ended with the story of how my parents finally came to a consensus one night while they were out at the movies!  It’s not a European story or a regal story.  Just the story of two parents wanting to give their daughter a name that would withstand a lifetime [and that she hopefully wouldn’t have to change if she ever became famous!].

Choosing names for our own children was no easy feat.  Naming our son proved to be a far more daunting task than naming our daughter, but neither was as easy as I always imagined it would have been!  And I’m not going to lie…the process of choosing a name has forever changed the way I see other people’s names!  By that, I mean…if you have a name that we considered for one of our own children…then you’re immediately added to my list of favourite people!!  Because you’re obviously awesome…brutally good looking…and adored by everyone you meet!! I’ll admit, it’s not an overly reliable system…but so far, it works!!

So, when Emma emailed asking if I could meet with her to discuss her upcoming wedding…I was already smitten!  Because, frankly, how outstanding is the name Emma?!?!  And yes, it was in the running as our little lady was getting ready to make her appearance.  But, once I found out that the love of her life was named Aidan…then all bets were off!  Aidan was actually tied as our first pick for our son’s name right up until the last minute.  So, there we go…Emma and Aidan!  Two of my favourite names and by default, two of my favourite people!!!  And I absolutely had to photograph their wedding!!  Not to would clearly be disrupting the natural order of things!!

Of course, they are even more amazing in person than in my preconceived notions of them!!!  Which not only makes me the luckiest photographer ever…but it also goes to show that my system totally works!
